A native Californian, Mary invested her early years raising three children and earning an interior design degree.
Mary began to develop her talent for Ceramic Art in 1997, while working as an Interior Designer. She learned to throw on a wheel while attending Moorpark College in California, and continues to refine and improve her style and skills with her primary focus on the ancient Raku technique of firing clay.
She throws each form on her wheel, then adds and subtracts clay to make an original piece of art. Because of her design education she strives for balance and rhythm with each piece.
Mixing bright colors with the raw black clay enables her to create personality to an inanimate object.
